Before Twist Web Studio was born, Austin Deaf Club (ADC)—a historic and vital community hub for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Austin, Texas, was struggling with a dated, hard-to-navigate website at www.austindeafclub.org. As ADC’s then Director of Public Relations, TJ recognized that the club’s mission to foster inclusion, education, and support wasn’t being reflected online.

This image shows a screenshot of the homepage for the Austin Deaf Club's website. The webpage has a deep blue header with the club's logo, which features an emblem with two flying doves and a stylized roofline, suggesting a community or gathering place. Below the logo, the navigation bar includes links labeled "NEWS," "ABOUT," "JOIN," "RENTAL," and "MEMBERS."

ADC’s website faced several major issues that limited user engagement and accessibility:

❌ Outdated design that didn’t reflect the club’s vibrant culture

❌ Confusing navigation that made it difficult to find events, resources, or membership info

❌ Little to no accessibility features—critical for a Deaf-centric organization

❌ No tools for event management or social media engagement

Before Twist Web Studio officially launched, TJ led a strategic redesign of ADC’s website with a focus on accessibility, usability, and community engagement.

Here’s what changed:

The site was rebuilt using Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) to ensure Deaf and Hard of Hearing users could navigate and interact with content easily.

Bright, welcoming visuals and real photos from ADC events replaced generic placeholders, making the site feel alive and authentic.

Menus and page layouts were simplified, helping visitors find what they need fast—whether it’s event details, membership info, or community resources.

The homepage now includes integrated event management tools and direct social media links, making it easy for users to stay connected and participate.

The transformation produced measurable success in just a few months:

  • 🚀 60% increase in website traffic
  • 📅 45% boost in event attendance
  • 🔁 Longer time on site + lower bounce rates
  • 💬 Rave reviews from the community about accessibility and design

The result:

The success of the ADC redesign revealed a greater need: affordable, accessible websites for community-based organizations. That single project laid the foundation for something bigger—Twist Web Studio.

Today, Twist Web Studio continues that mission: designing modern, accessible, and easy-to-use websites for nonprofits, small businesses, and Deaf-friendly organizations worldwide.

What began as a local club transformation became the launchpad for a web studio focused on inclusion, creativity, and real-world results.
